How much does it cost?

It would be nice if everyone needed the same style and format of résumé, however they don't. We specialize in developing customized presentations, so our prices vary based upon the number of pages required to tell your story in a succinct, high-impact format.

Are cover letters important?

You will increase your effectiveness 30 to 60 percent by using a cover letter that pinpoints your strengths and complements your résumé.

How soon will my résumé be ready?

It usually takes a few days, however we can put a rush on it if that is required. Our normal turn around time is two to three days.

Which format is best?

• Chronological - formats are valuable if there is a steady progression of skills in one industry.
• Functional - formats can be confusing since the just offer a summary of your experience.
• Combination - formats are usually the most effective, because you can summarize your strengths and write supporting material to substantiate your claims.
• Your writer and career consultant will discuss the best style and format for your target audience.

Why should I have a professional prepare my résumé?

This is the second most frequently asked question that I hear from prospective clients.
With all the books that show you how to write a résumé, combined with the on-line resources why would anyone need help in creating a résumé? I have asked my clients who are professional writers this question as well - because they are good writers - really good writers with published works.

Their simple answer is that it is difficult to assess ones own strengths and then to write about them in a clear and concise manner. Ninety percent of the time we throw out the good stuff and keep the information that should be edit out.

Recently a telecommunication director over international operations called to say he needed his resume typed, because it (in his opinion) was well written. Delicately and diplomatically I showed him how it could be made stronger and asked him leave it in my hands and return in a few days for a proof copy.

While I am good at anticipating what my client will say, his comment was amazing to me. "I didn't realize there was a service that could take something good and turn it into something great! This is a magnificent presentation of my qualifications! Where have you been during the past 20 years of my career? When I need your services, I will call. You can count on it. And I'll tell my friends. If I get this VP position, I'll let you know."

What determines the cost of a resume?

There are three distinctive factors that determine the cost.

• First there is the Style and Format that best reflects your industry and job title - my advice is to write for the position you want not the job you have.
• Second there is what I call your "Professional Style" (How do you want to project your image to employers)
  • Some of my clients want an over-the-top presentation - others wants something simple
  • Some of my clients want to say, "If you don't hire me someone else will!"
  • Others want to "If I were looking, your company might interest me!" - all the time understating their strengths. (rarely does this work effectively)
• Finally, how many pages does it require to tell your story effectively?
